Owner and Head Chef, Dino Bastone of Benito's Ristorante Italiano is the second son of post World War two immigrants Benito and Teresa Bastone who arrived in Australia in 1956. Though the Bastones have lived in Australia for 50 years, entering their home is like entering a little piece of Italy. Benito and Teresa were immensely proud of their Italian heritage and strong family values. Their passion for food was a reflection of their love of life and family. With only the freshest of localhome grown produce used, they made food without pretence... honest food. This is how Dino Bastone's love affair with cooking began, in the family backyard.
Dino opened his first restaurant at the age of 19; Smokey's Steak House. Since then his culinary excellence has taken him across Victoria. Benito's Ristorante Italiano is named in honour and respect of Dino's late father Benito Bastone.
