300gm Nutragrain

500gm Salted Peanuts

500gm Cashews

1 Packet Pretzels

1 pack each of French onion soup & cream of chicken soup

1 dessert sp curry powder

1/2 cup warm olive oil

Mix all dry ingredients together- a container with secure lid is good to shake

Pour oil over top of dry ingredients  then shake again till well mixed. Leave overnight then serve.

Its an awesome snack. Something a little different . Very popular in the 70s. Definitely don’t judge it till you try it!!

Grandma’s Farmers Bun

A delicious cookie recipe . Easy to make and very versatile- e.g. add chocolate/chocolate bars, coconut , jam, sultanas, nuts , ANYTHING to this basic recipe.

85 gm soft butter

1 egg

2 cups SRF

3/4 cup sugar

Preheat oven to 175c. Grease & line baking tray.

Cream butter & sugar with electric mixer

Beat in egg the SRF

Roll 2cm balls and place on trays

Bake for 10-12 min.

Leave to cool  for a few minutes on tray before transferring to wire rack.

Impossible quiche

3/4 Cup plain Flour                            2  Cups milk

125gm soft butter                                1 onion

4 eggs                                                     1/2 Cup unprocessed bran

1/2 cup grated cheese                       Salt & pepper to taste

* Mix plain flour, butter, eggs,milk in blender- then add remaining ingredients.

*Pour into greased  quiche/ baking  dish

* Bake for  50 min -1 hour at 180C

So easy- add bacon, tomato, zucchini, roast pumpkin- anything

 Best Italian Style Bangers & Potatoes

1. Grease baking dish with olive oil-Preheat oven to 160C

2-Boil 1 1/2 lts water- then  carefully drop 8 Italian sausages of your choice into water- turn down & simmer for 5 minutes-this cooks sausages without burning & removes excess fat.

3-Quarter- 3-4 large Spanish onions & place in baking dish-pour with 2 tblsp olive oil-place Italian sausages ontop then bake in oven for 15-25 min-until onion soft- Turn sausages once during cooking

4-Once cooked-  Remove sausages return to oven  oven seperately

5-Pour balsamic  1/3 cup vinegar over onions add 100 ml water- and return to oven when liquid bubbles  then stir in 1 dessert sp plain flour to thcken

6-Serve sausages with balsamic onion sauce on top.

Great with- 1-Italian baked potatoes & capsicum- 4-6 potatoes cut into large chips -place in baking dish with 2 red peppers cut into strips drizzled with olive oil & pinch salt   2- Fresh garden salad.

Fast & Fabulous Fritatta.

1. Grease a 20cm x 30cm  baking dish. preheat oven to 160C.

2. Line the baking dish with 2 ready cut puff pastry squares.

3. Whisk 1 1/2 cups cream (substitute for skim milk for healthier option),   1 cup grated tasty cheese, 1 cup chopped bacon, 3 eggs.

4.Pour mixture over puff pastry.

5. Bake in oven for 12-15 min.

6. Serve with fresh garden salad or with soup instead of bread.

7. Fantastic cold for lunch the next day.

8. A wonderful recipe which can be experimented with to try variations- eg use smoked salmon, chargrilled vegetables, grated zucchini.

 Nan’s Neverfail Sponge Cake.

 Light & Fluffy Everytime!!

Preheat oven 160 C . Grease 2 20cm round cake tins then line with baking paper.

4 eggs & 3/4 cup of caster sugar- beat together with electric beaters for 20minutes.

3/4 cup cornflour, pinch salt, 1tsp cream of tartar, 1/2 tsp bicarb soda, 1 heaped tblspoon custard powder- sift 4 times.

Fold dry ingredients into egg & sugar mix with electric beaters set on low speed

Divide mixture between the 2 cake tins.

Bake for approx 20 min on middle shelf of oven.

Remove from oven & turn onto wire rack. Allow to cool.

Cream & Ice as desired to make 2 small or 1 large sponge.
